How To Get Rich With An Infomercial

March 15, ‘08

Everyone who has stayed up late has seen them on TV. It’s the infamous infomercial. There’s thousands of them out there. They sell everything from erectile dysfunction pills, to kitchenware, to get rich real estate packages.

The Godfather of the informercial is Ron Popeil. He has invented lots of well known household products which he sells via infomercial. The list includes the Pocket Fisherman, Solid Flavor Injector, Smokeless Ashtray, Mr. Microphone, Showtime Rotisserie and the Ron Popeil Automatic Pasta Maker to name a few.

Ron has earned MILLIONS from his infomercials. They have made him a very rich man.

Another infomercial you might be familiar with is Enzyte. It’s the “male enhancement” pill which shows “Smiling Bob” on the infomercial. Berkeley Premium Nutraceuticals is the owners of Enzyte, and they have done a reported $100,000,000 in sales.

Real estate guru William McCorckle made and astonishing $36,000,000 from his real estate kit. Only he got involved in fraud and wound up in prison. But it goes to show that fortunes can be made with an infomercial. And if your infomercial is a success, your product will be accepted into retail stores. When that happens, be prepared to get VERY RICH, because that’s when the major bucks roll in.
The good thing about infomercials is they are “instant on”. You instantly make money, or you don’t. Just like at the casino. There’s no waiting around for months or years to see if you’re a success. You can find out in days or a few weeks of testing if you’re investment will make you rich, or cost you everything. It’s a big gamble with big rewards.

So you have an idea for your own informercial, and want to make your own empire? Here’s some tips, and how to get started.

1. Come up with a list of items you can or would like to sell on an infomercial.
2. Each item needs to have another item to sell in the “backend” or in an upsell.
3. You need to have a 5:1 ratio between the cost of the product and the sales price.
4. You don’t want a niche product that only relates to a small number of people. Your product needs to apply to everyone.
5. Sell a product that solves a problem.

The cost of producing an infomercial is expensive. Prices for a quick .30 second or 1:00 infomercial can cost about $25K and go up quick from there.
Here’s some infomercial production companies that can help you get started in building your infomercial empire.
