Make Fortunes Selling Instructional DVDs

January 17, ‘08

Fortunes can be made selling instructional DVD videos.

Take for example, Charles Trippy. He has sold over 39,000 copies of his DVD http://www.viralvideofever.com at $29.00.

Charles first earned internet fame with his YouTube antics which gathered him a following of over 30,000 subscribers and he has one of the largest collection of viewers on the internet. Charles is so good at his craft of producing viral video, that large corporations hire him to produce theirs.

Charles parlayed his YouTube fame by going on the internet reality show, The Next Internet Millionaire. While the show did not produce any internet millionaires, it did prove a point. And that is you can make fortunes by selling DVD’s on the internet.

Here’s what you need to produce DVD videos.

1. Camera. Not just any camera. What you’re looking for is a high quality “3 chip” camera that has a “24P” mode and XLR outputs for external audio. It’s a long story, but the combination of 24P with a 3 chip camera will give you a very professional look. A good example of such a camera would be the Panasonic DVX100B. Shooting in 24P mode gives your video that “film look” and it also is smaller in file size, which makes it better for uploading videos to the internet.

2. Microphone. They say “audio is 70% of what you see”. And nothing screams “amateur video!” like bad sounding audio. A good shotgun mic such as the Rode NTG-2 would be ideal. If you can’t afford a nice XLR shotgun mic, the Rode Videomic is the next best thing. The point is to get the mic OFF of the camera to eliminate handling noises.

3. Editing Software. If you can afford it and have a Macintosh computer, Final Cut Studio is THE editing software to have hands down. If you’re on a PC computer, Adobe Premier Pro is almost as good as Final Cut Studio. Keep in mind these can cost upwards of $1,300. But they are worth it. If you’re a poor college student, you might be able to get away with something such as Pinnacle Studio.

4. DVD replication. Don’t try to make copies of the DVDs yourself. You will just get frustrated and end up with bad quality. Outsource this job to a replication or duplication house. I would recommend Disc Makers. They can make 300 full color DVDs with cases and on DVD printing for $990.

And now you’re ready to make your fortune selling instructional DVD’s
