About Me

Hello,

My name is Adam, I’m a 36 year old retired entrepreneur. I worked crummy jobs that went nowhere until 1999 when all that started to change. In 1999 I moved to Maui Hawaii just to do something different in life and turn over a new leaf. I eventually landed another dead end job at a place in Lahaina, Maui called Dan’s Greenhouse. Dan was not the most no the most easy person to get along with. In fact, he and I did not get along at all. Dan was constantly down my throat. His farvorite thing to scream was “Work smarter, not harder!”

Well, I put up with Dan’s screaming for about 4 years until I moved back to my hometown of Houston in 2003. After working at Dan’s for a few years and saving up some money, I decided that I was not ever going to work for a guy like Dan ever again. In fact, I decided I was not going to work for anyone else ever again. I just could not do it.

I took all my saving and looked for a business to buy. After a few months of deals falling apart, I eventually purchased a small tanning salon for $50,000. It was nothing fancy, the owner had just started it a few months earlier and wanted to sell it due to it being to far from their home to manage properly.

I plunked down my entire savings and gave it a shot. I was finally my own boss. After a few months of learning the business things started to take off. My marketing was going great and the business was growing fast. When summer came around, things absolutely exploded. It was so busy that there was a line going out the door in the evenings. I was making serious money at that point. I made my $50K back easy during the second month of that summer and made plenty of cash to stuff my pockets with by the time summer was over.

After getting a taste of success I wanted more. I contacted a business broker who told another tanning salon owner that he has someone that wanted to buy their salon. After some negotiations back and fourth, the owner agree and I was now raking it in with two salons.

After about a year and a half I bought a third salon. I was making insane amounts of money at this point, but my time and energy was being spent. Running three salons was my max and I was just spread too thin. The money was more than I could dream of, but I had zero social life at at that point. Running three salons that are open from 8 AM till 10 PM is not easy and I had to make a decision. Should I hire people to run it, or sell and cash out? I decided to sell. After many month of tire kickers and “investors” who turned out to have no money, I finally got a sweet offer. I sold all three salons to a major tanning salon franchise. The check I got put me into official retirement. It’s not Bill Gates money, but it’s enough to retire.

So here I am now. I am hoping to repeat my success online with all my free time. I currently have this blog and do some minor league affiliate marketing. I am also writing a book and toying with some ideas for products I want to market via infomercials.
